Vanilla Ink: The Smiddy is a Centre for Excellence for Silversmithing and Jewellery based in Banff, Aberdeenshire. As the name suggests, The Smiddy was once a Blacksmith’s Workshop and lay derelict for over 30 years until Aberdeenshire Council embarked on a restoration project, rebuilding the workshop as part of Banff’s Regeneration Programme. You and 1 other can make your very own brand new piece of jewellery in just two hours with this workshop for complete beginners. You will learn how to make a silver ring from scratch and get to take it home with you on the day! Choose from a selection of samples, find your finger size, then you’re ready to get making. You'll be taken through the exciting process step by step and introduced to the classic techniques that go into jewellery making - including sawing, annealing, shaping, forming, soldering and finishing. You get to wield hammers, saws and play with FIRE!
